To Live, Think, and Renew

How can we continue to grow and renew ourselves when reality changes, while the assumptions that guide our thinking remain the same?

For more than five decades, I have explored how individuals groups and societies make sense of reality, why ways of thinking that once served us well can become obstacles to understanding a changing world, and how we can develop the ability to rethink them.

​

My journey began with the study of Fundamental Surprise and the development of Conceptual Reframing — the ability to recognize when our established ways of thinking no longer fit reality and to develop new frameworks of understanding.

​

Years later, I turned this approach toward my own life, challenging conventional assumptions about aging and exploring the possibilities of a new stage of life — the Age of Wisdom.

Today, the revolution in artificial intelligence has brought these questions into a broader human and societal context.

 

It invites us to reconsider the relationship between knowledge, thinking, and wisdom, and to explore the possibility of a historic transition from the Age of Knowledge to the Age of Wisdom.
